This course is 2 three hour hands-on sessions filled to the brim on how to get great photos no matter what type of digital camera you own. In this class you can use your camera to grasp the many features your camera may offer so you too can take great photos. Learn how and when to use different exposures, shutter speeds, f-stops, white balance and flash; how to get the best and most from your digital camera and flash cards, as well as the best way to transfer and save your images to the computer. Learn why resolution is a key factor in getting great photos. Learning how to effectively use histograms to properly expose your pictures. This class is hands on. Rod will help you find and use the different features your camera has to offer. Bring your camera and manual along with fully charged batteries so you can experiment with your camera and get professional tips on how to take great photos. Class includes over 55 pages of easy to understand useful notes. Using Your Digital Camera
Using Your Digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) Camera

This 6.0 hour class will take you past the basics of using your digital camera. This class is for those who own a digital S.L.R. (single lens reflex) camera. Rod will spend hands on time with you explaining and using the many features offered on this type of camera. Rod will also go through the many different menu functions and how they can be used to capture great photos. Rod will also explain and show many different types of equipment (including different size lenses) so the student can decide if and when to enhance their cameras ability to take different and exciting photos.

Part of this class will be used to take photos using the different features so a student can see what their camera is capable of doing.

It is recommended that you have all ready taken the course Using Your Digital Camera or have a good basic working knowledge of your camera.

A great hands-on introduction to this exciting and very affordable photo-editing program from Adobe. Elements is incredibly versatile and a great buy ($89.00 or less). You learn the basics of photo editing and manipulation including files, resolution, printing, layers, sharpening, color and tonal adjustment, cropping, filters, how to fix photos, and more. You will learn more than the basics as Rod shows you many creative features of this very versatile and affordable software program. You are working at your own computer. Knowledge gained is applicable to the use of Photoshop as well. Recommend that you have a version of Elements or Photoshop on your computer at home so you can practice in between classes. The course also includes extensive follow along notes as well as a CD of over 60 of Rod's images to use in class and to take home. You can now fix those "broke" photos. Taking Winning Photographs:
Photo Composition at its best

This three-session class will show you how to take pictures that are photography "winners". Rod will emphasize basic and advanced techniques of composition, time of day and how to get the most from your camera whether it is a 35mm SLR, "point and shoot" or a digital camera. Learn how to use lighting to get great photos of landscapes, garden and/or wild flowers, night photos, panoramic photos and more. Rod will give you tips on how to take great people, sports and animal pictures. We will talk about and touch some of the many different pieces that can aid you in getting "Winning" Photos. Rod will spend part of one session showing photos of great photogenic spots in our area and then tell you where they are and when to shoot the photos. A review of student's slides, photos or digital images will be conducted on the last day to highlight the positives of the student's images and/or areas that could be enhanced to get a "winning picture".
Rod has been the Photographer of The Year from the local camera club for three consecutive years. This class is perfect for the person who wants to go beyond the basics of photography to a level of taking "winning" and fun pictures.
